The Behmor 1600 coffee roaster is an easy to use, one pound capacity coffee roaster that employs patent bending smoke suppression technology while at the same time using environmentally sensitive practices in its production. At nearly 1/2 the price of other drum-style home roasters, the Behmore produces a consistent, quality roast. While it can roast up to a full pound, we've found that about 80% of that value seems to work best, especially for darker roasts. As will all home coffee roasters, the Behmor should never be left unattended. This is especially true during the final stages of the roast cycle. During the cooling cycle, the coffee beans remain in the mesh-type drum as the heating element shuts off and the cooling fan goes into full swing. Because of this, it is important to anticipate where the roast will be within the next 15 to 20 seconds. If stopping the roast manually to achieve a certain roast level, it should be stopped slightly prior to the beans reaching this level (as seen through the viewing window of the roaster).

Important Notes for unpacking and using the Behmor Coffee roaster:
- There is a thin plastic sheet covering the chaff collector tray that needs to
be removed prior to turning the roaster on.
- The Behmor requires periodic cleaning, especially under the chaff tray.
A "dummy cycle" with no beans should be run before using for
the first time and then about every 8-10 roasts afterward so it will
self clean. This is important to remove any build-up of oils within
the roaster. If not removed, these oils will catch on fire if allowed
to accrue to a thickness of about 1/16th inch or so.
- Having a fire extinguisher nearby is always a good idea when
using any type of home roasting unit. While fires are rare,
they have been known to occur.
- The instructions for the unit are well written by the manufacturer and
should be read and thoroughly understood before operating the machine
for the first time.
